What does it mean to be a kid at heart?
To be a kid at heart is to take your shoes off on a sunny day in the park and run barefoot on the grass – simply because you feel like it – not being bothered by the strange looks of those who have fallen into the pit of adulthood so deep that they locked their inner child away, being uncomfortable with how you can still nurture him, not recognizing they want to do the same. It\’s feeling the grass gently brushing your toes and the morning dew sticking to your ankles. It\’s the feeling of pure happiness of a simple act, when you\’re so in tune with yourself and your surroundings that all your problems disappear.
To be a kid at heart is to walk through the city you\’ve never visited before in awe, exploring it with a spark in your eyes. You\’re wondering what\’s around the next corner, then curiously asking so many questions without the fear of being judged (When was this built? Who built it? Why? Did anyone ever climb on the top of it without a rope? Can I touch it?) and inhaling the information like a little sponge.
To be a kid at heart is to be brutally honest without the intention of hurting someone. To tell them it\’s rude to be so late and how them telling you you\’re a geek for always reading has really hurt your feelings.
To be a kid at heart is to follow your dreams, no matter how wild they might be. It\’s to listen to others laugh at your plan to becoming a mayor of your capital, because – you think to yourself – what do they know? The school psychologist told me I could move mountains and if I don\’t believe her with all the naïvety my heart encompasses, what else can I even do with my life?
